Exhibition of works inspired by baroque reliquaries

Latest news

About the Exhibit

The exhibit showcases eighteen works, which present an era of baroque piety and bring you a detailed look at the decoration of reliquaries. Accompanying panels will introduce you to the veneration of holy bodies and allow you to see intricate details of these exhibits, which are not visible at first glance.

Works are primarily made of cut glass stones, wires, brocade, and a large number of metallic threads and metallic foils. Showcased skeletal remains are very well-patinated replicas.

Take a guided tour with the author

Enter the fascinating world of Baroque veneration of saints' relics on guided tours with the author. You will learn more about the phenomenon of catacomb saints, Baroque symbolism of death, and how deeply faith was connected with the everyday lives of people at that time. The tour will also discuss the production of the exhibits, the materials used, and what inspires the author to create them.

The exhibition thematically follows on from the exhibition of the reliquary of St. Maurus and broadens the perspective on the phenomenon of saints' relics in a European context.
