This exhibit was inspired by the works of the monk Adalbert Eder from the Bavarian monastery of Waldsassen. In particular, it was inspired by the reliquary with the relics of St. Ursa, who is dressed in a baroque nobleman's garment of embroidered brocade. The complete skeleton lies in a glass coffin in one of the side altars in the monastery basilica.
According to legend, St. Ursa was burned, which is why the skull is blackish and probably was scorched by the flames. In the case of my work, the chosen colors were silver, grey, and black for the clothes, decorations, and stones which gives Barbora an overall look of a snow queen.
Plaster, plastic, brocade, metallic threads, glass jewelry stones, beads, embroidery, metal foil, strass, leatherette, linoleum, velvet, wire
